Are you wondering how to make the most out of aging in your community? Getting involved in the free activities, programs and services offered throughout Seniors Month in June is a great place to start! At Golden Age Management, we not only offer accessible and affordable services that address your needs in health, wellness and change, but we also act as an intermediary agent, advocate and general geriatric consultant to aid you in navigating the many services available across organizations.
In this blog post, we will highlight the theme and initiatives of 2023's Seniors Month outlined by the Government of Ontario, and connect you to local opportunities.
Theme - Working for Seniors
Older adults have spent the majority of their life contributing to their communities through their work and familial obligations. Retirement often indicates a time of immense change in an adults life. However, there are many ways to maintain consistency and stay engaged well into later life. Let's show our seniors how we are working for them.
"Retirement is not the end of the road. It is the beginning of the open highway."
Initiative #1 - Recognizing and Celebrating
Older adults deserve to be appreciated for all that they've accomplished. You can nominate a senior through two provincial senior award programs or request a congratulatory message for a senior marking a milestone by clicking here.
Initiative #2 - Promoting Wellness
The Government of Ontario is funding Seniors Active Living Centre programs that promote wellness, social connections and education in communities across the province. Find social, cultural, learning and recreational programs for older adults that promote health, well-being and social connections here.
Initiative #3 - Easier Access
Older adults are entitled to accessible and affordable programs and services that can help in staying safe and healthy, active and engaged. Click here to access the guide.
