March Programs and Events

Michelle Jamieson

Spring is right around the corner, and with warmer weather on it's way, we are planning some exciting programs and events to get community members out and about!

See below to learn about the age-friendly activities that target overall health and well-being throughout the month of March. The following items are facilitated by Golden Age Management owner, Michelle Jamieson.

Yoga Class: Hatha Flow (Sthira & Sukha)

Registered Yoga Teacher, Michelle, continues to offer this age-friendly yoga class at Sacred Spaces in Brantford every Monday night from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Sacred Spaces Brantford is a wellness center, offering massage therapy and yoga classes. The yoga studio offers classes daily for ANY BODY.

This particular class aims to balance both the Sthira and Sukha of our asana practice, we start to see the effects in our daily lives. Sthira is the Sanskrit word for "steadiness," "stability," and "effort." Sukha is the Sanskrit for "sweetness," "joy," and "ease." In the Hatha-style class, we will hold traditional asana poses while incorporating gentle movement to improve overall strength and flexibility. You will feel both the heating and cooling effects of this flow. You can sign up for the Rest and Restore class here.

Microgreens "Gardening" Workshop

Golden Age Management is teaming up with TruLeaf Garden Consulting to offer this new and exciting workshop that teaches participants how to grow nutrient-rich seedlings, AKA Microgreens!

This workshop will cover the basics of planting, caring for, and harvesting microgreens, with a focus on creating a mini salad garden that yields fresh and flavorful greens.

The workshop will be facilitated by Almas from Truleaf in the Garden Room at Tranquility place on Thursday March 7th from 1:30p.m. to 3:30p.m. Participants will be greeted by Michelle at the main entrance.

The cost for the workshop is $45.00, which includes the 2-hour hands-on instruction and microgreens tasting as well as a take-home kit including the microgreens tray, planting mat and an assortment of seeds. For more information or to register for this event, please click here.

Active Aging Social Club

The long anticipated free social club for seniors is finally here! Golden Age Management owner, Michelle, received funding from the Community Changemakers Program offered by the City of Brantford, in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University in winter 2023.

This funding provides the foundations for a vision Michelle has: to offer an inclusive social group for older adults that is free, accessible, non-task based and hosted in a public space.

After receiving feedback, Michelle has decided to offer this group on the first Friday of every month from 1:30p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Steve's Artisan Teas starting April 5th. The club will provide free teas and treats, as well as social prompts to break the ice among participants!

Attendance is by registration only, so please contact Michelle directly or sign up through the website by clicking here.
